Should a stadium be built on Nicollet Island?
Nicollet Island residents, historic preservation groups, and park and
river advocates are calling for further negotiations with DeLaSalle High
School to explore other options for a football / soccer stadium that better
serves the interests of all parties. The current proposal under review seeks
to authorize a stadium to be built adjacent to the private high school on
Nicollet Island, a historic district and on public parkland. The DeLaSalle
stadium proposal will come before the Minneapolis Zoning and Planning
Committee for review on Thursday, September 14, 2006.
Things you can do:
 | Attend the September 14th Zoning and Planning Commission |
 | Write a letter or make a phone call to your City Council Member |
 | Add your name to a letter to ask for a meeting with
your City Council Member to oppose the current site location, and to more
fully explore all options (contact Michael Guest at Friends of the
Mississippi River by email at
mguest@fmr.org, or by phone at 651-222-2193 ext. 22). |
