On Monday, June 6 we welcomed Jim Diers to the Twin Cities for an insightful day of dialogues on ways to broaden neighborhood involvement.Diers, former director of the City of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods and author of Neighbor Power: Building Community the Seattle Way, shared the story of Seattle's neighborhood involvement process and the lessons he's learned about how communities in towns and cities across the globe are working to build active and creative neighborhoods. Jim began the day with an appearance, along with C4N's Executive Director Gretchen Nicholls, on Minnesota Public Radio's "Midmorning" program. Follow this link to the "Midmorning" website to access the audio from this broadcast. That afternoon, conversations were held with Jim in both Minneapolis and St. Paul to discuss the Seattle Model of neighborhood involvement and what communities can learn from one another about approaches that help ensure successful civic engagement The day ended with a bookstore event, at which Jim discussed Neighbor Power.
